Getting Your Home Ready for House Cleaners

By Sparkling House Cleaning Services Cinco Ranch · Published

You do not need to clean before your cleaners arrive. Pick up clutter from floors and counters, secure pets, share how to get in and point out delicate surfaces. Confirm your checklist and any add-ons, like inside the oven or inside windows, before the visit.

Why picking up clutter matters

Cleaners clean surfaces, so the more surfaces they can see, the more gets done. Gather loose clothes, toys, mail and cords off the floors and counters. You do not need to scrub anything first, since that is what you are paying for.

Decide which rooms are in and which are out, and close the doors to any rooms we should skip. A quick note about a home office or a napping baby goes a long way. If you want organizing help rather than a tidy, bring it up when you book because it takes extra time.

  • Clear bathroom counters and the shower floor.
  • Empty the sink and wipe off the stovetop clutter.
  • Put away jewelry, medications and private papers.
  • Set out fresh sheets if you added a sheet change.

Plan how we get in and where pets will be

Share gate codes, parking notes and how the team will get in the door. Test any keypad code before cleaning day and explain the alarm if you have one. Send entry details privately by phone or text, never in a public post.

We are gentle with pets, but it still helps to tell us where they will be. A friendly dog can block a doorway or slip out an open gate. Let us know about any escape artists so we can keep doors and gates closed.

Point out delicate surfaces and existing damage

Marble, quartz, hardwood, acrylic tubs and specialty appliances sometimes need specific products. If you have care instructions, leave them out. If you are not sure what a surface is made of, just say so.

Mention loose fixtures, cracked tile, leaks and stains that are already there. Cleaning removes dirt but cannot undo damage. A quick heads-up helps everyone tell an old issue apart from something that was missed.

Agree on the checklist before the visit

Tell us the two or three things you care about most so we can make sure they fit the service you booked. Inside the oven, fridge and cabinets, inside windows, blinds and sheet changes are add-ons. Adding them ahead of time is easier than asking on the day.

At the end of the clean, walk through and compare the result with your checklist. If something on the list looks missed, let us know right away by phone or text with specifics. For an empty home, use our move-out checklist instead.
